Starting at just 5.1 lbs, the Mark V® Backcountry™ Guide Ti was purpose-built to be the best lightweight mountain rifle on the market. It features Peak 44’s Blacktooth carbon fiber stock with Spartan Precision’s gunsmithing adapters factory installed. These adapters allow hunters to utilize Spartan’s ultra-lightweight accessories. Equipped with an Accubrake ST and 3DHex recoil pad, the Backcountry Guide series manages recoil extremely well even with Weatherby’s historic magnum cartridges. The titanium action has an incredible strength-to-weight ratio cutting even more weight than the standard steel action. The Guide series utilizes shorter BSF Carbon Fiber barrels making it easier to run suppressors and navigate in thick, rugged terrain.

• At the heart of the Backcountry Guide Ti is the Mark V titanium action. Titanium offers an incredible strength-to-weight ratio and significantly cuts weight when compared to actions using traditional steel material. Titanium is also naturally corrosion-resistant which makes it perfect for hunting in harsh hunting conditions. All of Weatherby’s titanium actions are machined in Sheridan, WY with the tightest tolerances and attention to detail.
  
  
• The Backcountry Guide series features Peak 44’s Blacktooth Stock. The forend of this stock integrates two Spartan Precision gunsmithing adapters for seamless compatibility with their ultra-light accessories. The stock’s 3DHex recoil pad was designed to tame even the largest of Weatherby’s magnum cartridges. As recoil is absorbed into the pad’s honeycomb structure, the hexagonal voids begin to collapse and disperse the recoil’s energy turning that sharp kick into a gentle shove. Each stock is hand-painted to give it a one-of-a-kind look on every rifle.

  After BSF turns down a 416R stainless steel match barrel they sleeve it with carbon fiber and load it under tension. Because it’s under tension, as the barrel heats up it keeps the rifling straighter, resulting in a stiffer, more rigid barrel. Most competitors use a wrapping method that has been proven to trap heat and cause delamination.

  With BSF’s proprietary method, 95% of the carbon fiber does not touch the contoured barrel, creating air gaps and allowing air to foil around the steel and cool the barrel faster.
