The perfect blend of old school look with a new-school feel
Through years of innovation and testing, the Model 307 action features a bolt that was designed to have a tool-less disassembly which allows hunters and shooters to easily field strip their bolt if needed. The bolt is equipped with an M16-style extractor for positive extraction and reliable ejection. The Adventure comes standard with an externally adjustable TriggerTech Field trigger. The Adventure SD comes with a classic hinged floor plate and the barrel comes with a recoil-reducing Accubrake.
Featuring a beautiful fancy walnut stock with maple spacers and rosewood accents the Adventure SD is the perfect blend of old school look with a new-school feel. The classic Monte Carlo stock was made famous by Weatherby for decades, its unique shape was designed to divert and disperse recoil making even the hottest Weatherby calibers a joy to shoot. The fluted barrel and action are coated in a weather-resistant Cerakote.
The Adventure SD is compatible with many after-market 700® platform parts, making it the most open platform in the Weatherby line-up. With an upgraded wood stock, trigger, bolt, fluted barrel, and Accubrake, the Adventure SD brings a custom rifle feel, without the custom price. The Adventure SD is proudly built at our headquarters in Sheridan, WY.

Weatherby Model 307 Adventure
The Model 307 is the first really new rifle from Weatherby in a long time, and the Adventure SD is the first new offering in a classic wood stock in a long time. There are other versions of the 307 in various stock formats. In short, the 307 appears to be a blend of Vanguard and Mark V, that is an “in-between”, adopting some good features from both. The stock is a softer satin finish, not quite as eye-catching as the glossy Deluxe finishes, but appealing in its own way, with the traditional Weatherby forestock and pistol grip caps, plus an excellent recoil pad. Most noticeable, after the 2 - lug bolt is installed, is the "Vanguard-ish" 90º bolt lift (54º on most Mark Vs; 60º on my Browning X-Bolts). It has a fluted barrel - nice for even cooling – which, in my experience somewhat rare on Mark Vs or on Vanguards. Overall, the rifle does feel solid like a Mark V, but not as “clunky” heavy as are some Vanguards. Part, but not all, of my lighter feel may be due to the Viper VHS 4-16x44 2FP on it, as opposed to bigger scopes I have on other rifles. The gun and its scope appear to have mated up well – that is, the 4-16x44 is a good fit for this rifle - which, of course, is not always the case. This is my first venture into a 44 mm objective lens, instead of 50 mm on bigger scopes, which, if I was starting over, would be my choice for all, since there is only a minor difference in light gathering capability. Also new to me, is a muzzle brake. So far, not too noticeable, just a little bit less kick and noise for me, the shooter. Not so sure about others beside me at the range, which is why I have avoided them until now! The Weatherby guaranteed “Sub MOA” accuracy appears to be installed on the 307 as well. Following a minimal number of 25 and 50 yard sighting-in shots, I had no difficulty attaining a respectably tight grouping at 100 yards with 165 gr. Hornady ELD-M bullets and IMR 4064 powder. I wouldn’t call the 307 a major game-changer, but it is certainly a fine rifle, as we have learned to expect from Weatherby!
