Description
Proudly built in the USA, the Big Horn Armory Model 90 lever-action rifle in .460 S&W Magnum, Model 90A in .454 Casull and Model 90B in 45 Colt continue the rich legacy of American firearms design and development. Built from the ground-up and solidly engineered using the latest CNC technology, both Model 90s embody the best of the old Model 86 and Model 92 lever-actions in a modern platform capable of handling the powerful .460 S&W Magnum and 454 Casull. Both rifle and carbine models are manufactured with 17-4 stainless steel precision machined and properly hardened to deliver consistent downrange performance and rugged in-the- field dependability.
The selected American black walnut stock and forend are fitted with integral front and stud rear sling swivel mounts. The pistol- grip buttstock has a one- inch recoil-taming pad. Stock and forend are given several coats of a durable synthetic satin finish. The standard rifle and carbine are equipped with aperture rear and post front sights. The Model 90’s large, hunter-friendly curved- lever enables ease of operation, especially with gloved hands. Honoring the long tradition of great American sporting rifles, the new Model 90s provide hunters with pride in ownership, and a powerful advantage afield.
Big Horn Armory makes the Model 90 in 460 S&W, Model 90A in 454 Casull and Model 90B in 45 Colt for a reason. The cartridge length governs how any cartridge feeds through our lever guns.
The cartridges guides, carrier, cartridge stop and barrel are all designed to use and feed a specific cartridge over-all length. The Real Cartridge Length varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Bullet length and type also have an effect on how cartridges feed and cycle in our Browning style lever guns. All of these factors contribute to how well each cartridge will work in Big Horn Armory products.
Of course there some allowances, but cartridges must be within a fairly narrow length range to cycle through each of our chamberings. The 460 S&W, 454 Casull and 45 Colt all differ enough in length to require a different set of internal parts centered around each particular cartridge length. That is the reason we make the three different models of 45 caliber guns.
While a 45 Colt will shoot in any Model 90 type and the 454 Casull will shoot through the Model 90, it is unlikely that any will cycle properly in a gun that is not specific to the individual cartridge.
So please don’t be disappointed in your Model 90 doesn’t feed 454 Casull or 45 Colt through the tubular magazine. You can always top feed the shorter cartridge through the open action and still shoot the shorter cartridge in a gun designed for a longer over-all length.
