Description
Calgary Stampede Rifle
In 1981, Winchester produced a deluxe firearm in honor of Canada's "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth", the Calgary Stampede. The Calgary Stampede commemorative firearm was sanctioned by the directors of the stampede and only 1,000 deluxe units were produced.
The Calgary Stampede, which is the first gun champered in the famous .32 caliber, features a straight grip stock, and forearm of highly polished American walnut. The brand of the stampede, C Lazy S, is branded on the right side of the stock. The sights are rifle front and buckhorn rear.
The round barrel carries the inscription "Calgary Stampede Commemorative" in pewter letters. The barrel band, magazine band, loading gate, lever and squared, wrap around buttplate are blued. The hammer and trigger are antique silver.
The antique silver receiver is roll engraved on the left with a scene from the stampede framed by scroll. The saddle ring is blued. The right side depicts the Calgary Stampede emblem bordered by scroll. The upper tang carries the inscription "Model 1894 Winchester". The Calgary Stampede comes in a tan velvet-lined oak case with a brass plaque engraved with "One of One Thousand" on the lid.
The serial number with the prefix "CS", is located on the front underside of the receiver. The Calgary Stampedes were made in New Haven.
