Description
Texas Sesquicentennial Rifle
Winchester is producing a Texas Sesquicentennial Rifle Set featuring the Texas Sesquicentennial Commemorative Rifle and Bowie Knife in a presentation case. The Rifle features a straight grip stock and forearm of satin-finished American Walnut with spade design checkering. The round barrel is engraved with “1836 – TEXAS – 1986” in gold letters between elaborate scroll with “Sesquicentennial” on the reverse side. “1 of 1500” is also engraved in gold on the barrel. All metal parts are deeply blued. The sites are marble gold bead front and full buckhorn rear.
Both sides of the receiver depict scenes from Texas history, acid etched, and gold auroplated with 22 karat gold. The top of the receiver features a gold outline of Texas. The lever depicts the yellow rose of Texas on one side and a wagon train with the Texas Wagon Train logo on the reverse side.
There is no medallion.
Also included, is the Texas Sesquicentennial Bowie Knife by Western Cutlery. The knife is also acid edged and gold plated with scenes from Texas history on one side and a wagon train scene on the reverse. The handle is genuine stag. The rifle with matching Bowie knife comes in a red velvet-lined oak presentation case.
The serial number, with the prefix “TSR,” is located on the front underside of the receiver. Only 1,500 will be produced at New Haven.
