• How is the Mk 2 different from the original Ken Onion Knife Sharpener (Mk 1)?
  The Mk 2 builds on the original Mk.1 design by adding more power, precision, and ease of use. It includes upgraded electronics with seven speeds displayed on an LED screen, constant-on and emergency-off controls, and a more powerful load-sensing motor that maintains speed under pressure. The upgraded Blade Grinding Attachment improves visibility and control by displaying the angle up front, while the adjustable convex pulley allows fine-tuning of the convex in the edge. When using the traditional cassette, the Mk 2 provides leather-lined guides and a redesigned front edge guide for greater accuracy.
  
  In short, the Ken Onion Elite Mk 2 is faster to set up, easier to adjust, and more precise than the Mk 1.

• Is this loud or messy to use?
  At higher speeds, the Ken Onion Mk 2 Elite can be as loud as a small power tool, while at lower speeds it’s closer to a kitchen appliance. Like any sharpener, it produces some mess primarily in the form of a small abrasive dust pile in front of the unit.
  
  
• Is this worth the price over cheaper Work Sharp models or competitors?

• Do you have leather belts for the Ken Onion MK2?
  No. We don’t offer or recommend leather belts for any powered Work Sharp sharpener, as they can be unsafe and may damage the machine. Our 6000-grit abrasive belts safely produce a fine, polished edge similar to leather stropping.
  
  
• Why does the LED light stay on when my Ken Onion Edition sharpener is plugged in?
  The LED stays on because the speed control electronics remain energized while plugged in. This creates a small amount of harmless heat. To prevent this, simply unplug the sharpener when not in use.
  
  
• What’s the difference with the Stiff Belt Kit?
  The Stiff Belt Kit uses a heavier fabric backing for greater stability and less flex. This makes it ideal for reprofiling blades and creating flatter grinds instead of the typical convex edge from standard belts.
